2024 was a year full of impact for all us of here at Florette HQ – From earning Gold EcoVadis accreditation to donating 61,800 salad bags to FareShare UK, we’re making sustainability a priority! Here’s a look at some of 2024’s biggest CSR headlines…
In June 2024 we retained Gold EcoVadis Accreditation, with a score in the top 5% of all rated companies!
We particularly scored highly within the categories of sustainable procurement and ethics – with a rating in the top 1% of companies within our industry.
We have an ongoing partnership with FareShare and in 2024 donated 61,800 Florette bags – equivalent to 10,317kg of product. This has helped support 786 charities with a donation equivalent to 32,000 meals.
In 2024, we received our second electric HGV, meaning approximately 8% of our deliveries are now being completed with an electric truck!
We also received a new fleet of more efficient HGVs which has provided a 13% reduction in our fuel use.
Throughout the year we fundraise for GroceryAid, and have once again won a gold award for our work with the industry charity.
In 2024 we raised over £1500, including £1200 from our staff miles challenges, where staff walked, ran, cycled or swam over 8000 miles.
All Florette leafy salad bags are LEAF accredited, a leading global assurance system which recognises more sustainably farmed products.
Our two key commitments for 2035:
To halve our direct greenhouse gas emissions within our operational scope (transport, energy, packaging and waste).
To reduce our carbon footprint by 35% by reducing our direct and indirect emissions and increasing the use of carbon sequestration by our farmer members.
Across all our sites, we have dedicated Mental Health First Aiders, to provide a supportive point of contact for anyone experiencing a mental health concern or emotional distress. With representatives from across departments, we currently have 105 trained MHFA’s.
All employees are entitled to a paid volunteering day each year and in 2024, our staff contributed 46 volunteer days across a number of charities including FareShare, Fur Clempt, St Giles Hospice, the Trussel Trust and the Greyhound Trust South Derbyshire.
